The Makara Guardians Inc. is an incorporated Society set up by the residents of Makara to fight the siting of this industrial complex in this area. It also has a wider goal of having national guidelines established to avoid the locating of wind turbine stations in rural and scenic areas of intrinsic value. We, a small rural community of 128 households, now face the daunting task of taking on New Zealands largest power generation company with it lawyers, overseas experts and full time staff, not to mention a very deep pocket, in an effort to stop it from ruining one of Wellington regions major assets.
If you would like to help us in this David and Goliath battle there is a range of things you can do:
1. Become an associate member of
our Society ($2.00).
Make a donation to our fighting
fund. Offer any support/services to us that you or your club or community
group think might be helpful.
